Fateh Al Moudarres

Fateh al-MoudarresFateh al-Moudarres (Arabic: فاتح المدرس‎) (1922—1999) was a Syrian painter and one of the leaders of the modern art movement in Syria. Moudarres studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where he was influenced by Surrealism. After he completed his studies, he returned to Syria where he grew and honed his skills under the auspices of long-time friend, mentor, and tutor Wahbi Al-Hariri.

 Biography

Born in Aleppo, Syria, Fateh Moudarres originally taught himself realist techniques before becoming interested in surrealism.

Nazir Nabaa

Nazir NabaaNazir Nabaa (Born 1938. Damascus, Syria) is a Syrian painter. A pioneer of modern Syrian art, he studied art in Cairo from 1959-1965 and continued his training at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts from (1971–1974). After completing his studies he returned to Damascus and joined the faculty of the College of Fine Arts at Damascus University. Nabaa's style is noted for blending together traditional and modern themes and his work has been shown in exhibitions at museums such as the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.

Awards

  • 1968: Judges Panel's Award; Biennial; Alexandria.
  • 1979: Diploma, Bratislava International Exhibition, Children drawing and painting.
  • Ecole Superieur des Beaux Arts, special award, for "works leading to graduation."
  • 1995: Judges Panel's Award, Cairo International Biennial.
